I didn’t get a whole lot done on the wrap today. Work was incredibly busy- it often is, on Mondays- and I’ve had a headache since about 9am or so. So here’s another photo of it, slightly larger, and this time with a nickel for scale! Wow, exciting!
Aaand this is what the yarn is doing to my pinky.
It doesn’t look quite as dark or deep in this photo as it is in real life. Kinda hurty. Ah well, I still love this yarn.
Also, I have an announcement to make…. Today, I made the formal decision to drop out of NaKniSweMoDo ‘09. I had a number of reasons for this. The first, and most obvious, is that things keep coming up that are more important than sweaters for me or anybody else. Thank-you socks for a generous Great-Uncle and a wrap for a bereaved aunt are definitely priority one in my book. Others may not (and in some cases, made it clear that they do not) agree. Which brings me to another reason… I mean no ill of anyone specific in the group, but there was an air of (how do I say this nicely) purist tendency, I guess, in the group. Lots of people with strong opinions, which is fine, but it was starting to make me feel a teensy bit unwelcome. The third big reason I decided to quit is that I simply have decided I would rather focus more on designing and spinning this year than knitting sweaters. I’ll still knit a few- no question there- and I might even knit close to 12, we’ll see, but I don’t have to now. No one is watching to make sure I’m on-task. It’s a nicer feeling.
